1. An allusion is a brief reference within a work to something outside the work. The Crucible uses many Biblical allusions. As we read Act II, pay attention to any Biblical allusions that are used.

“Man, remember, until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven.”
Allusion 3
“”Pontius Pilate! God will not let you wash your hands of this!”

#2: Rebecca Nurse is being compared to Lucifer
#3: Procter is calling Rev. Hale Pontius Pilate.
