Multiplying decimals Ignore the decimal and do the multiplication

If you have a mixed numbers you HAVE to change it to an improper fraction Simplify Multiply the numerators Multiply the denominators 6 7 1 3 4 X 13 3 6 7 X 26 7 2 1

Multiplying Fractions and decimals
Change the numbers to all decimals or all fractions You HAVE to use fractions if the decimal is a repeating number or you will not get an exact answer

Multiplying Integers If you have an odd number of negative signs the answer is negative -2 X 3 -6 If you have an even number of negative signs the answer is positive -3 X -4 12

The Distributive Property
Used to multiply a single term and two or more terms inside a set of parentheses

Examples -5.15 X 2.4 -4/5(-1.25 + 5/8) 3(-7 1/6 – 2/3)
3(-7 1/6 – 2/3) -3/4(-8/ ) -5[3/5 – (-13/20)] 0.4(-2 ½)
