FOOD Egyptians eat as many as five meals a day!
Breakfast-Usually a drink at home and bread bought on the way to work. Mid-morning-Bread with cold meat, pickles, or eggs with coffee or tea. Lunch-May be bread, dates, vegetables, or fish. Evening meal-Rice with cooked meats or vegetables. Supper-Usually eaten around 10pm, may consist of a bean dish with fried vegetable balls and grape leaves stuffed with rice. Back

FUN FACTS In 1995 an archeologist discovered the world’s first lighthouse. It was called Pharos and was one of the 7 Wonders of the World. An earthquake caused it to tumble and it has been a mystery for over 600 years! Wealthy women wore an “incense cone” on their heads. It was filled with sweet smelling animal fats. During the night the fat would melt and the oil would run down their faces and into their wigs making them smell good. The Rosetta Stone was found in It had three different types of writing on it: hieroglyphics, demotic, and ancient Greek. In 1822 the hieroglyphics were deciphered. Back
