VP Welfare & Campaigns. What’s been done so far: An additional counsellor working at Student Services Through working closely with Joanna Tomlinson, head of Student Services, there will be the appointment of an additional, full time counsellor to work with our students. Reinstatement of the free shuttle bus service With the other Full Time Officers we launched a campaign to reinstate a free shuttle bus between the Brighton campuses. The service is now hourly but we have ensured the University will closely monitor the use of the service and we will lobby them to adapt the service accordingly.

What’s been done so far: Black History Month A range of events have been held across campuses and I have tried to keep up a social media presence during the month. For example, I worked to help ACS organise their meet & greet, the Film Society held movie nights and there will be a free reggae concert this Friday! Following on from this month I am looking to continue a campaign celebrating student diversity.

What’s been done so far: #TakeANightOff A campaign targeted at reducing the pressure felt by Freshers’ and returning students to be out everyday during the first two weeks of term. The campaign will relaunch during Alcohol Awareness Week or during dry Janurary (mid November).

Future Campaign Ideas: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Free water during peak exam/deadline times Stress reduction awareness “Chill Out Zones” in libraries #AllinBrighton/Eastbourne/Hastings A campaign to celebrate the diversity of students Ethnicities, genders, races, sexualities Roadshow across campuses Liberate My Curriculum Safe Way Home Scheme
