Unit Overview In this unit we will investigate the differences between events that could be categorized as economic, political, or social change. In addition we will explore how economic, political, and social changes impact the human experience.

What is social change? Social change refers to an alteration, or change, in the social order of society. The base of social change is change in the thought process of humans. Let’s look at three examples of social movements that had a large impact on early Americans: Women’s Rights Civil Rights Anti-War / Counter Culture

Women’s Rights Assessment
Students will be divided into groups of three, and each group will be assigned one of the following events. Each group will complete an event summary chart for their event and will present to the class. Create a Political Cartoon
Choose one of the events and create a political cartoon: 1) Latino American Civil Rights (2) Native American Movement (3) Black Lives Matter (4) Gay Rights A Bias: You should choose one of the perspectives and hold dear to it. Use it to create your cartoon. Scene: Brainstorm scenes for a possible conflict. Identification of Key players. How are you going to represent the new way of thinking vs the old. Caption Bubbles: How will you use what each of the key players are saying to get you point across?
