2
¿How is the Zika virus spread?
The virus is transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito of the genus Aedes , the same mosquito that transmits dengue, Chikungunya fever and Yellow Fever.
3
It can also be transmitted:
From mother to child Through sexual contact Through blood transfusions
4
Suspicious cases Pacient that presents maculo-papular rash and displays at least one of the following symptoms: Fever, generally <101°F (38.5°C) Conjunctivitis (red eye inflammation, not the contagious purulent pus-kind like pinkeye) Arthralgia(joint pain) Myalgia (muscle pain) Peri articular swelling (joint swelling)
5
This is especially true:
In cases where, in the the two weeks before symptoms appeared, the person was either living in or traveling to an area with incidences of local Zika transmission. In cases where, in the two weeks before symptoms appeared, the person had unprotected sexual contact with someone who, in the previous 8 weeks, also had sexual contact with someone living or traveling in an area with known local transmission of the virus.
