Active Membership Requirements
Active Membership: Requires at least 6 events across the three categories below to be considered an active member & MUST attend the Annual G. Kenneth Nelson banquet in the fall. Break down Professional (Attendance of 3 events required) Examples: Professional Events and Excel in Excel Volunteer (Attendance of 1 event required) Examples: Fundraiser participation, Service Events, VITA, THON General (Attendance of 2 events required) Examples: General Body Meeting, Committee Membership Distinguished member: Requires at least 8 events to be considered a distinguished member.

Five Guys Accounting Society/Beta Alpha Psi THON Fundraiser – Monday, October 23rd We will heading down to Five Guys after the meeting Accounting Society/Beta Alpha Psi THON Benefit Dinner – Wednesday, November 1st from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in the Business Building Atrium

Accounting Society/Beta Alpha Psi THON Benefit Dinner
The THON Benefit Dinner is an annual Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi event. Students from these organizations and professionals from the Big 4 (KPMG, Deloitte, EY and PwC) attend, as well as professionals from some of the regional firms (BDO, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton). This is one of the most prized events of the year, so you won't want to miss it! At the event we will be making kids mail and having an in-depth THON trivia game, as well as catered dinner! It will be on Wednesday, November 1st from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM in the Business Building Atrium at a cost of $15 (cash or check made out to: Penn State Dance Marathon). Please drop of your money to Susie Wright’s office (327 Business) in an envelope with your name and PSU Access ID (i.e. kxw5310) on it

Lion’s Pantry Volunteering Opportunity
On Wednesday, November 1st Lion's Pantry is holding an event in the HUB (8:30am-4:30pm) to celebrate their kickoff. One shift will equal one service point, sign up is First Come, First Serve basis. People from other organizations may also volunteer, so feel free to sign up with a friend from another organization if you so wish; or just look out to see when others from the Accounting Society have signed up! This is a great way to earn a service point and will likely be one of the last opportunities this semester to earn your point! Penn State's Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive
Each year Students Engaging Students works with groups across the Penn State and Centre County Community to provide a Thanksgiving meal to families in need. Last year Students Engaging Students delivered over 400 baskets The Accounting Society was asked once again to donate a basket for a local Centre County family this year A donation of two items on the list will equal a Community Service point. G. Kenneth Nelson Banquet
The Fifth Annual G. Kenneth Nelson Banquet will be held on Monday, November 13th from 6pm to 9pm at the Nittany Lion Inn. Key note speaker: Kristen Vieira Traynor The cost to attend is $20, but please let Brittany or Charlie know if this cost is not feasible. Money is due to Vice President, Brittany Hernon by Monday, November 6th. Find the Right CPA Review for You! Accounting Society/Beta Alpha Psi is hosting a CPA Review information session with Becker, Roger, & Wiley CPA. Each CPA Review company will have a information session on their CPA review services and the benefits of the CPA exam After the information session will be having a networking session with the Becker, Roger, & Wiley CPA in 217 Business. It will be a fantastic opportunity to obtain additional information and connect with the CPA review firms in a more personal setting. A light catered dinner will be provided, so please come hungry! Accounting Society General Body Meeting #6 – Monday, November 6th in 104 Business at 6:00 PM Former President of the Accounting Club/Society President Patrick Duffy will be in attendance In 2004, at the initiative of then-President Patrick Duffy, the name of the Accounting Club was changed to the Accounting Society. Patrick Duffy served as President for two years, 2003/04 and 2004/05. Patrick Duffy will make a presentation on his career path from Penn State ➔ public accounting ➔ corporate accounting
