“Blame Game” Many seek to shift the blame / responsibility for their actions to someone / something else God does not play the “blame game” (Gen. 3:9ff) We are not forced to sin; we are responsible for our own actions, good or bad (Ezek. 18)

Examples of Those Whom Satan Could Not Make to Sin
Job (Job 1-2) – appealed to integrity Joseph (Gen. 39) – appealed to conscience Jesus (Mt. 4) – appealed to scripture

What About Demon Possession Today?
Demons made people do bad things (Mk. 5:1-13; 9:17ff) God removed the demons when he removed the miraculous power to cast them out (Zech. 13:2; Mk. 16:17)

What About David and Judas?
Did Satan make David number the people (1 Chron. 21; 2 Sam. 24)? No, David acted on his own after being influenced by “Satan” – an adversary ( 1 Chron. 21:8; 2 Sam. 24:10) Did Satan make Judas betray the Lord (Jn. 13:2,18, [Psa. 42:9], 26-27; Lk. 22:3)? No, Judas allowed himself to be influenced by Satan (Jn. 6:64,70-71; 12:4-7; Acts 1:17,25)

What Are We To Do? Don’t bare the marks of the devil (Jn. 8:44; 1 Jn. 3:8-10) Take the way of escape (1 Cor. 10:13) Give no place to the devil (Eph. 4:27) Control your desires (Jas. 1:14-15) Resist the devil (Jas. 4:7; Eph. 6:11; Pet. 5:9)
