Several ways of connecting
There are several ways of providing a connection to device. A cable Wireless Bluetooth Phone signals Most devices will have several ways of connecting.

A cable Called a network cable or an ethernet cable this is the most reliable way of connecting to a network. All routers have sockets (ports to allow this) but you are then limited to having a physical connection. Tablets and phones will not have a port to allow this to happen.

Wireless Most home routers will have the ability to deliver a wireless signal. They should agree to standards called a, b/g/n, and/or ac wireless. They may be able to deliver over several bands or speeds so you might have options as to which way you can connect. What do you use at home?

Bluetooth Bluetooth is a type of ‘small’ wireless and connects devices together in the home. You normally have to search for the device you want to connect to and then enter a PIN number to confirm.

Phone Signals Phones use a signal which according to where you are could be: 3G, 4G or other older type of connections. These connections are provided by masts and are run by separate companies. These types of signals are normally more expensive than wireless signals. They are normally capped at a certain limit per month.
