Summary James Frye gets away with the killing of a physician
Later gets caught and convicted of armed robbery During the trial he is administered a primitive lie detector test which is unreliable. Due to the test, he avoids the death sentence.

Significance This case set the standard in scientific examinations.
In court, all scientific evidence must meet a certain requirement to be deemed reliable . This is known as the “Frye Standard” This proves the admissibility aka legitimacy of the scientific evidence.
