How long is this program/is it full time or part-time/Is divided into semesters or is it year long?
It is a two-year diploma program. It can either be part-time or a full-time program and it is year long.

Can I complete the program over a longer or shorter time frame?
When it’s full-time, you can complete the program shorter. In part-time, you can complete it in a longer time.

What courses are you required to complete?
Students have to follow a list of courses that includes: lectures and practical applications in construction drawing, materials and methods, estimating techniques, building systems, and computer applications.

Are there any electives?
Yes, There are three electives in the second year of the program: Architectural, Building science, and economics/construction operations.

Is there an on-the-job component to this program such as practicum, residency or apprenticeship/is this on-the-job component paid or is it part of my studies? Yes. Every summer there is an on-the-job component/practicum to this program as a part of curriculum and attendance. You will join to those engineers, architects, developers, contractors, so that you will know more of their nature of their job.

Is this program modular or complete?
It is a modular program because in this program, students are able to design buildings and develop advance placements as architecture technologists and work for construction.

Entrance requirements for architectural technology Step 1: English; two years of education in English in a English speaking country, English 12 (67%), Three credits of post-secondary English, Humanities or Social Sciences (67%). Physics: one of the following: Physics 11 (67%) or Physics 12 (67%) Math: one of the following: Principles of Mathematics 12 (67%) or Applications of Mathematics 12 (67%) or Pre-Calculus 12 (67% Step 2: department assessment All applications will be reviewed by the program area at the application deadline. Admission is competitive and will be offered to the most qualified applicants Note: There is an online application.

What kind of employment outcomes are there upon completion of this program?
After upon completion of this program, You can do several things and you can join in the design team, help research and prepare architectural drawings using special drafting software. They may also research building codes, calculate cost estimates, monitoring and inspecting of builders and you may become also a project coordinators and manager, building inspectors, developers, senior production personnel, etc.

What does this program prepare you to do?
This program prepares students for the theoretical knowledge and skills needed to become an architect and workforce. It helps them develop extensive practical skills for rewarding careers, and graduate in an industry in the design ,development, construction, and building science factors.

Is there a demand for this type of occupation?/Are there additional programs of study you could pursue to add skills and specializations to your resume? Yes. Because Architects create homes, office, towns, schools, and churches. Being an Architect is versatile. As an Architect, you need to be licensed. You need to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from a university program by the Canadian Architectural certification board.

Am I able to be a good candidate for this program?
Yes! Because I have an ability to draw and I love art. However, Being an Architect means that there is a lot of mathematics you need. But soon I may improve.
