6 National Architectural Accrediting Board
You will need to pursue a degree that is accredited by the: Schools that are accredited by “NAAB” will meet the educational requirements for the exam required by most states. National Architectural Accrediting Board Define accredited? Who accredited architecture college programs? Why is it important that there be an agency that accredited architecture programs? Four-year degree BA or BS in Architecture Bachelor of Environmental Design or Architectural Studies Prepare for graduate degree. Accredited program Minimum of 5 years Bachelor of Architecture Master Programs One to five years Masters of Architecture Doctor of Architecture Post-Professional degree Only offered to students with a professional degree. 13 Architect Registration Examination (ARE)
Goal of Exam Test applicants on knowledge, skills and ability as it relates to the practice of Architecture. Purpose Concentrate on services that affect: Public health, safety and welfare Exam Content: Programming planning and practice, site planning and design, building design and construction systems, schematic design, structural systems, building systems, construction documents and services Step 3: Examination UNT in partnership with TEA. Administers and monitors test contents Adopted by all U.S. states and territories and Canada First national exam was produced in 1965 Create an NCARB Record Personal record of your education and experience Time Limit = “Rolling Clock” Must pass all divisions of the exam in five years!
