The theme of the story was that some events are just unexplainable.
Example: The theme of the story was that some events are just unexplainable. Details from the story to support the theme: No one could explain how the cookies went missing. The cookie bag wasn’t in the garbage. None of the kids smelled like cookies

In the text it says, “The poor farmer and his wife were excited. They had never had anything valuable before.” The text also says, “They were richer than they had ever been before.” This shows that the theme is greed can leave you with nothing.
