Three main magazine sectors
Consumer magazines: E.g Cosmopolitan, GQ, Take a Break, Mainly bought in newsagents or sent through post as subscriptions. Mainly paid-for. Some given away free. Business to Business magazines: E.g Computer Weekly, Building Design, Farmer’s Weekly, Mainly sent through post as subscriptions. Mixture of free and free ‘controlled circulation’. Customer magazines: E.g Asda Magazine, AA magazine, High Life Either distributed at sales tills, or sent through post to club members. Mainly free. Some paid-for.

Newspaper magazines: distributed as part of newspaper package, usually in weekend editions.
