5 Podcasting Podcasting is a new method of communicating that allows anyone to create audio files and download them to computers or MP3 players for other to listen to.

7 Audacity is a free web tool used for audio editing and recording that is a resource for creating a podcast.

8 Tasks Record Live Audio Convert Tapes into Digital Recordings
Edit sound files such as mp3 Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together Change speed or pitch of recording Dub over existing tracks

9 Getting Started To export files, Audacity requires an encoder. The LAME mp3 encoder may be downloaded and used in Audacity.

12 Basic Recording Create a New Project Under File

File Formats Spectrograms (For Adjusting Settings) Directories (Location of Temporary Files) Interface (Toolbars) Keyboard/Mouse (Create Shortcuts) p://

14 Basic Recording cont'd Hit the red button and start recording.

15 Trimming Clips Highlight the section you wish to keep.
Sometimes a clip may be too long or you want to cut part of it out. Highlight the section you wish to keep. Click the “Trim” button at the top and the rest will be cut out.

16 Saving the Project Save the project in a version that allows you to continue to edit. Click File Save Project As Type in File Name. G

17 Exporting from Audacity
To export a file to the web or as mp3, Go to File > Export > Save (similarly to the previous step).
