4 What is PHP ? Scripting / Programming language (“C-like”)
No compilation. PHP was originally an acronym for Personal Home Pages but is now a recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP was originally developed by the Danish Greenlander Rasmus Lerdorf, PHP is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML.

9 What is XAMPP ? XAMPP (pronounced as ZAMP) is a small and light Apache distribution containing the most common web development technologies in a single package. Acronym for: X- Read as "cross", meaning cross-platform) A-Apache HTTP Server M-MySQL P-PHP P-Perl

10 Why XAMPP Ideal tool for developing and testing applications in PHP & MySQL. Takes less time than installing each of its components separately. Multiple instances of XAMPP can exist on a single computer. Allow website designers and programmers to test their work on their own computers without any access to the Internet XAMPP also provides support for creating and manipulating databases in MySQL and SQLite among others.

12 Steps Installation #1 Download the XAMPP Installer from or Save the file to your Desktop, for easy access later. Double-click the xampp installer that you downloaded to your desktop, and select your preferred language (in my case, English).
