Homework: everyone read through chapter 7 and complete the appropriate study guide; honors kids please read the New York Times article linked on the website ( ck.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0), jot down the three quotes that connect to your own thought and write a brief summary of how those ideas support your own conclusion

3. Dictado
Objective: So that I demonstrate proper grammar/mechanics in my own writing, I will write and punctuate a sentence that I hear, discussing the choices that I make with the class. I will finally correct the grammar according to the rules of Standard English. Dictado #1 “Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot.” ;=use between closely related, independent thoughts

4. Chapters 1-3 Objective: I will discuss the key events in a novel, highlighting how they help to build theme.
Choose one of the most interesting or important events. Draw a picture of it and write a caption that explains what is happening.
Choose a significant quote from the first three chapters. What does this quote tell you about the time period or the characters?
Write a letter to Huck. Tell him how you feel about his actions/beliefs. Ask him any questions you might have.
