2 Data Analysis Hall C analysis “engine” well suited to SHMS
Identical (fortran-based) code used for HMS and SOS hodoscopes, chambers, calorimeters Built-in calibration codes for some detectors; options for outputting calibration data Very easy to incorporate SHMS Trivial changes for geometry, channel differences Minor modifications for fly’s eye calorimeter Small changes for new ADC/TDC modules Want to develop C++/ROOT based analyzer More advanced programming language More direct connection to ROOT data presentation/analysis tools (including Hall A) Easier inclusion of new detectors, third arms ?

3 Plan under discussion (default option)
Develop C++/Root analyzer Use Hall A version New framework? Update the fortran “engine” as backup option Easy to update; most of work is to decode ADC/TDC/scalar info Ready to go if needed. Realistically, once C++/Root analyzer is working, all engine support disappears

4 Current efforts, short-term plans
Start work in preparation of analysis updates Document current codes, algorithms Lay out work needed to adopt PODD or make new framework Put SHMS into engine (identify areas needing new code) Volunteers G. Niculescu: Document engine, start on new analyzer M. Jones: Coordinate initial efforts E. Brash, J. Reinhold, W. Boeglin: make time/students available in the summer Interested (but not yet useful) parties: S. Wood and myself Looking for user input, more interested and/or useful parties Do we have real PODD experts in Hall C?

5 Questions Is any of this what we want actually want?
What else do we want/need? New/different capabilities for analyzer? Have SIMC/single-arm with SHMS model Need GEANT4 simulation? [G. Huber looking at 1st efforts] Small packages for individual detectors? Global detector hut simulation? Full spectrometer (hall) model?
