9 The discovery of King Tut's tomb caused a sensation since the tomb and its remains were well-preserved unlike the other royal tombs. It gave us a glimpse of Ancient Egypt and the life of a pharaoh. It was thanks to Howard Carter, a British Egyptologist who discovered the tomb in 1922, that we are able to enter this tomb today.

10 ANTECHAMBER The entrance opens up to a corridor that leads to the antechamber. The antechamber is the gateway to the annex and the burial chamber. It contains hundreds of intriguing objects like a fan and decomposing war chariots.

11 BURIAL CHAMBER The most priceless item is found beyond the antechamber and in the most decorated room in the tomb, the burial chamber. There, guarded by two figures of the god Anubis, the sarcophagus lays. It is surrounded by walls painted with scenes of Tut interacting with different gods.

12 King Tut’s Stone Sarcophagus
Contains three coffins > outer two coffins: crafted in wood, covered with gold and stones > innermost coffin: gold, holds the mummy and the death mask

13 TREASURY Next to the burial chamber is the treasury room. It is guarded by a life-size shrine of the jackal headed god anubis. It contains king tut's most valuable treasures and essential tools to carry in the afterlife. His organs are also kept here inside 4 alabaster jars protected by a wooden shrine gilded in gold.

14 There is also another room that we cant enter today called the annex
There is also another room that we cant enter today called the annex. It is the smallest room and it contained many foods, drinks, valuable oils, pots etc. Overall, Howard Carter found thousands of items in the tomb and this made King Tut's name spread around the world. So who is king tut?

15 Who is King Tut? King Thutankhamun (c. 1341 B.C.E to c. 1323 B.C.E)
12th pharaoh of the 18th Egyptian Dynasty, in power from approximately 1332 to 1323 B.C.E His powerful advisers restored the traditional Egyptian religion, which had been set aside by his father, Akhenaten. He shifted the focus of the country’s worship back to the king of gods, Amun and returned the religious center back to Thebes. He married his half-sister, Ankhesenamun, but they did not produce an heir: unclear succession line. Death: age of 19: led to a hasty burial in a small tomb most likely built for a lesser noble
