Don’t fear the inhabitants (Deut. 31:1-8) God’s assurance to Joshua (Josh. 1:1-9) Assurance to help them complete their tasks: Jacob, Moses, Solomon, Jeremiah Apostles (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 18:9-11; II Tim. 4:9-18) Don’t worry, God won’t forsake his saints (Psa. 37)

4 A Conditional Promise A two-way agreement (James 4:8; I Kings 6:11-13)
When people forsake God, he forsakes them (Deut. 31:16-18) Israel forsook and was forsaken (Judges 6:13) Zechariah’s rebuke (II Chron. 24:20) Drawing near to God requires getting away from sin (James 4:8)

5 Our Responsibility Pray for God to be with you (I Kings 8:57)
Seek God, don’t forsake him (II Chron. 15:2) Return to God and he’ll return to you (Mal. 3:7) Our return to God must be genuine (Judges 10:6-16) Be content and do not fear (Heb. 13:5-6) Closing verses (Psa. 9:10; 27:9-10; Rom. 8:31)
