1 Quote of the Day: In a disordered mind as in a disordered body soundness of health is impossible. ~ Cicero Students will complete following bell ringer to begin class. Quotes are kept in folders and are turned in at the end of grading period for a test grade.

2 Quote of the Day: In a disordered (lacking order: messy, lacking health: sick) mind as in a disordered body soundness (working order: healthy, ) of health is impossible. Agree/Disagree: My Reason: Modifications: will define unclear words & allow extra time. Students who require modifications will have their inside their folder in order to allow more time, (not having to write quote, and have words that may be unclear defined.

5 Who/What is Society: Webster’s College Dictionary says:
An organized group of persons associated together who share: activities customs class culture belief Belief: an opinion, conviction, confidence in an idea

6 So does that include…Me/You?
So we could define society as: a group of people (Americans) who hold similar (same or really close) beliefs (opinions) on some topics (democracy, religion, standards of dress). Or we could say: a group of people (Mrs. Barber’s Class) who hold similar (same or really close) beliefs (opinions) on some topics (longer lunches & time between classes). Then WE are society. Creating meaning for students to apply concept to their own lives.

7 So….? How does society form commonly held beliefs?
