Reporting Tips Tools to help you leverage your financial data reporting
5
Use Attributes – Dynamics GP
Attributes are chosen on the columns to be able to bring back other financial data that is stored in the Dynamics tables to Management Reporter. The Attributes will give you the data that is otherwise pulled with a Dynamics GP Detail Trial Balance or from modifying and using the SmartList Account Transactions. By having all of the data added to the Management Reporter Column, you can print the financial at the Financial, Financial and Account or the Financial, Account and Detail level. The Detail level is the only place the attributes will be seen. (The next three slides show the Attributes for Dynamics GP and AX)

Missing Account Analysis
Missing Account Analysis is a tool that is located at Tools > Missing Account Analysis. When the tool is ran, it looks at all of the dimension values used on the Building Block Row Definitions. The tools looks at the lowest (smallest) account number on the report to the highest account number on the report. It will bring back any account that is not located on the report to help you identify what needs to be updated on your report to be in balalnce.
7
Unit Accounts Having unit accounts as part of your chart of accounts helps in doing calculations to review specialized reporting. Example is using the number of telephone installations unit account and dividing it in to the Net Sales for Telephone Sales to get average net income earned per telephone installation. (Net sales being sales less returns less discounts and less cost of goods sold.)
8
Leverage MR Sample Reports
If not installed, use Import Default Reports under tools to install reports, rows, columns and trees Default examples are a good starting point to build your own reports Default columns can be used in any of your reports Columns reporting budgets would need to be changed to the proper company budget When installing the Default Reports, you can choose one or more or all reports, rows, columns and trees.

10
Report Comments When you would like to place a comment on a line, you would highlight the line and then press comment (plus on bottom left). The screen will split like the example on the screen and you can type your comment. Comments export to excel and other formats once you have entered them.
11
Flip Your Thinking Rows can be departments
Columns can be account numbers There are times that you will want a report by a segment that is not your main account segment. You can build those segments as your row instead of your main account segment. If a report is built this way, you can then drill back into every account number that is associates with the alternernate / non-main account segment.
12
Flip Your Thinking Rows can be departments
Columns can be account numbers Your column can then have different sections of your main account in different columns. The example in the picture has main account segment 5100 to 5100 in the column. Other examples would be to have the asset, liabilities, owner equities, revenue and expenses each in its own column.
13
Make Rows “Un-Drillable”
Rows can have XD print control added to suppress row in the Account Detail Report Rows can have XT print control added to suppress row in the Transaction Detail Report Example of use is for Payroll posting accounts

15
Create Side-By-Side Reports Using Column Format Code

Suppress Descriptions and Underscores Using the Related Rows Field
My columns are defined as follows: A=Description B=Account # (No Print) C=Current Month Periodic D=Beginning Balance (No Print) E=Current Balance YTD (No Print) F=E-D (Calc)
18
Suppress Descriptions and Underscores Using the Related Rows Field
Use the an if/then statement in the total line to force the value in all columns of the total line to be zero. If the value in column C and F were zero, rows will be suppressed. Row Example for suppression: 1360 Cash Flow fr Fin DES 1601 1400 Notes Payable C +MainAccount = [2?????] 1440 Common Stock C +MainAccount = [3?????] 1580 --- 1601 1601 Net Cash fr Fin CAL IF C.1611=0 AND F.1611=0 THEN 0 1611 TOT 1360:1580 NP 1620 --- 1601

How to Publish in Multiple Folders
Show MR Viewer to add folders, etc. IT must grant proper security for the folders 1. Now, to set the location, we navigate to the report definition in Management Reporter, then click on the Output and Distribution tab 2. Mark the option to "Generate to multiple report library locations" and then specify the report library location in the left hand column, this will be used to determine the security access for the report. Then, on the right hand side, use the Browse button to locate the shared directory to publish the report link. You can then add additional combinations of report library locations and related report link locations, so that the report is published to multiple locations with different security settings as needed. Once you have specified the necessary paths, you can generate the report. The report link will automatically generate and appear in the shared directory: 3. Double-click to open the link:
28
Report Library Permissions
Right-click on Library or other subfolder | Report Library Permissions Assigning users or groups to a folder grants them access to that folder and its contents. For example, users assigned to the Report Library root folder automatically will gain access to all subfolders and reports. You also can right-click on an individual report within the Report Library and grant access to a specific report.
