1 Week 19 Vocabulary Ben/bon = good
benefit, benefactor, beneficial, beneficiary, benevolent, bonus, benign, organize, preserve, reflect

2 Benefit (n) Something that is advantageous or good. Two benefits of healthy eating are more energy and a slim waistline.

3 Benefactor (n) Someone who gives out benefits; a kind helper. Even though Jane didn’t know who her mystery benefactor was, she appreciated the extra money they left in her mailbox every month.

4 Beneficial (adj) helpful. My mom always told me carrots were beneficial to my health and would help my eyesight.

5 Beneficiary (n) Someone who receives benefits or advantages. Rebecca was the beneficiary of her grandfather’s farm thanks to his will when he passed away.

6 Benevolent Helpful and charitable His benevolent deeds were appreciated by the charity, they helped the poor tremendously during the winter.

7 Bonus (n) Something extra. I love Ms. Paris because on quizzes she always gives the best extra credit which leads to me getting bonus points!

8 Benign Gentle and kind. The benign king was gentle, kind, and a great leader to his royal subjects.

9 Observe If you observe things you see it happen or you look carefully to find out what will happen. When writing a narrative you might write about something you observed at school.

10 Persevere (v) Keep doing something even though it is difficult. When you get the wrong answer the first three times you try to solve a problem, you should preserver and try again.

11 Reflect If you reflect on something, you think about it. Read the article on endangered animals and reflect on it before participating in the discussion.
