I'd like to see a tool that would help transition data from active use by the researcher to curation status by the library.
the main question to me is who is going to pay for preservation, of what and for how long?

A tool to assign identifiers to emulated environments. A tool to identify which software environments content could be executed using.
I need tools or widgets that help make commercial products interoperable, eg federated searching across Box, DropBox and Google Drive
