3. Research the firms, online (e.g. Vault, Chambers) and in person (e.g. Career Services, Informational Interviews)

Poor posture & negative body language (remember to smile)
Overly complex answers
Sounding robotic, like you’re reciting from memory
Not enough questions (be prepared to ask 20 minutes worth of questions)

(10) Describe your ideal job experience (ideal mentor/mentee relationship, what you are looking for in a firm, etc.).
(11) Tell me something that’s not on your resume that you think I should know (Interests Question).
(12) Can you talk me through your legal work product/writing sample?

6. Final Thoughts
1. If you don’t get an offer at a firm, it’s not the end of the world.
The vast majority of 1Ls do not work at firms.
Lots of other great IP opportunities will come up over spring semester.
Some unpaid internships will teach a lot more than firm associateships and generally be a better experience.
