2
Austin Williams Coordinator, Communications
3
Before We Get Started Make sure you have your website and website admin pulled up To access your admin, add “wp-admin” to the end of your site url. Example: thefirsttee.org/wp-admin
4
Why Are We Doing This? 90% of chapters have holes on their website
Chapters are missing out on opportunities to convert potential parents & donors To help chapters with items they may be confused about or missed out on how to update
5
Website Checklist Link to Donation form Link to registration
Volunteer button Redirects Address in footer Terms of Use and Privacy Policy Partner logos Update placeholder pages Update Feature Images Broken links/images Social Icons Much more!
6
Are You Losing Donations?
2 ways users can donate on your website Link your donate button on your homepage Update info on donation landing page (Example: thefirstteegreaterhouston.org/donate)
7
Register & Volunteer Are your Register and Volunteer buttons linked? Use the Utility menu! Have you updated these landing pages? Don’t leave users looking at a blank page
8
Home Office Map Donate, Register and Volunteer buttons through Home Office Map It’s important that these pages on your site have content, because users go to this map daily looking for a chapter near them. Home Office will be using these buttons to track user activity
9
Don’t Neglect, Redirect
When people Google your chapter, they may be getting links to your old site Avoid user confusion and redirect all important pages using the 301 redirect tool on your admin dashboard Admin: Settings>Simple 301 Redirects
10
Let’s Get Started! What’s Your Chapter Address?
Many still have the home office address or no address at all Admin: Client Settings tab
11
Terms & Privacy Just fill in the blank with your specific info, it’s that easy! Admin: Appearance>Menus>Footer Utility
12
Who Sponsors Who? Placeholder Sponsors
Admin: Pages>Homepage>Partners Placeholder Sponsors Insert your own local sponsors or delete
13
Placeholder Pages Why’s my page in Latin?
Staff and Blog pages were given placeholder content until you could update with your content Not using Blog? Get rid of it
14
That’s a Nice Image! Beautify your website pages with featured images on the top of each page Select “Featured Image” at bottom right when editing a page If photos aren’t the exact size the bottom will be cut off Minimum width is 1430px Minimum height is 715px.
15
Don’t be Anti-Social Engage your audience beyond your website by updating your social media icons On the “Appearance” tab go to menus>social navigation
16
Do a little Clean Up Look over your website pages a few times, there may be broken links or images you might have missed Maybe even have a trusted volunteer or parent do it for you!
