Growth: Page 150 Heads- as much as 3/8 inch per month! Length- as much as ½ inch per month Legs- may be bowed; bones are still malleable (pressed out of shape). Vision- tracking video Skin- touch and temperature Habituation vs. dishabituation- Sensorimotor stage (PIAGET) and circular reactions- p. 154 Primary circular reaction: During Piaget’s sensorimotor stage, an infant repeats an action that he or she finds enjoyable and is typically observed at 1-4 months.

Responsive skills Look at box 6.4 on p. 164: What Developmental domain do the responsive skills in the box help develop? +Key into developmental alerts on p. 166: uneven weight increase, prolonged food refusal, lack of response to facial expressions, no smile, prolonged periods of crying without response to comfort, prolonged periods of sleep without alert phases
