Introduction Sources of pollutant in Coast Batam:
Industrial activities (Tj. Uncang, Sekupang) Port and transport activities (Sagulung, Marina, Tj. Riau, Sekupang) Tourism activities (Marina, Tj. Pinggir) Domestic activities (Tj. Riau) Tanker accident & tank cleaning Reclamation (Sekupang, Tj. Uncang)
3
Objective of Study To evaluate the environmental status of Coast Batam, Riau Island based on levels of heavy metals in seawater and sediment.
4
Sampling Site
5
Method sampling preparation analyze Sea water sediment
Cd: SNI :2009 Cu: SNI :2009 Pb: SNI :2009 preparation AAS of Shimadzu AA-7000 analyze
6
Result Moderate level pollution
7
Conclusion Cadmium was not detected in seawater from coast Batam, but the level of Cu and Pb in seawater have exceeded environmental quality standard for biota set by Indonesia Ministry of Environment. Level of heavy metals Cd, Cu and Pb in sediment still meet with quality standard of sediment set by United States EPA, except the level of Cu in sediment from Sekupang was polluted in the moderate level.
