Objectives of the Commission
Deepen understandings of extent of health inequalities and the main drivers of health inequalities in the Americas. Focus on gender, ethnicity, human rights and social determinants of health. Make proposals for action based on the evidence

Proposals for Action and analysis
Equity is at the heart of action on social determinants of health. Social justice and health is an overarching goal Priority given to gender and ethnic inequalities and human rights

Partner Countries Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Jamaica, México, Perú Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, United States

Country/network partnerships Objectives
Identify available data and other evidence on inequalities Identify case studies of interventions or policies Validate final recommendations Develop strategy and implementation plans - contextually specific, cross-cutting Involve civil society and cross sector organisations

Agree a minimum specification for monitoring
Based on a selection of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators and the principle, set out by the UN Statistics Commission that: Improving data disaggregation – by income, sex, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, disability and geographic location or other characteristics – is also fundamental for the full implementation of the global indicator framework in order to leave no one behind as pledged in the 2030 Agenda.

Evidence Reviews – 10 areas
Formulation of recommendations Drafting reports – 1st draft spring 2018, final draft summer 2018. Publication expected Autumn 2018.
