1 When the Saints Go Marching In!
The Way of the Day

2 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

3 A reading from the Book of Revelation
After that I saw a huge number, impossible to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. They shouted aloud, 'Victory to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!' - Revelation 7:9-10

4 Why does the Church recognise particular saints in heaven?
The Church wants us to have many role models. And even more so, the Church wants us to pray with these saints for the same grace and zeal that they had for their faith.

5 Why pray to the saints? Asking a saint to pray for you is not that different from asking a friend or a family member to pray for you. The saints are in heaven. The Scripture that we read states that the great multitude is in heaven proclaiming the glory of God. If we have spiritual brothers and sisters in heaven, why can’t we ask them to pray for us? In fact, they are closer to God and in a greater position to intercede than we are.

6 Ask that saint to pray for you to be holy.
The saints give us the model for how to get to heaven. Many different saints show us many different ways to God and many different ways to be holy. Pause for a moment to think about the saints in your life. Maybe you share a first name with a saint, or you have a confirmation saint. There is always your tutor group saint, and St Joseph our school saint. Ask that saint to pray for you to be holy.

7 We ask Mary, the most famous of all the saints, to pray for us:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

8 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
