I. Traditional Warfare 1. Avoid major battles unless certain of victory. 2. Out-maneuver the enemy. 3. Capture the enemy’s capital. 4. Leave civilians alone.

II. Modern Warfare 1. Totally destroy the enemy- do whatever it takes.
2. Fight aggressively and pursue (chase) the enemy down. 3. Don’t worry about hurting civilians – it’s too bad if they get in the way. 4. Burn down towns, take food, and destroy railroads, cities, etc.
