Copy down the following questions/prompts on the left hand side of your Cornell notes, and write your answers on the right hand side using the following pages in your Holt L&LA books (p. 437 & p. 440). USE COMPLETE SENTENCES!!! (6 min) Where did the ode originate? What is the purpose of an ode? What are odes like today? Where was Pablo Neruda from? Describe Neruda’s style & his reasons for that style. Where was Joseph Bruchac from? What does Bruchac say about the lesson he was taught?

5 HW: Literary Devices Picture Chart DUE FRIDAY! (p. 438-9)
“Ode to Thanks” “Birdfoot’s Grampa” (a lyric) “Ode to a Toad” Metaphor-or-Simile: “…” alliteration: “…” 2 lines w/ exact rhyme: “…”  Put the literary device and your FULL QUOTE at the top of each square. Neatly copy down the chart below. You will need to find an example of each device specified in each box. Write down the WHOLE quote from the poem that demonstrates that device.
