MULTIAPPLICATION (1/2) Identification Loyalty Transit
smart card application which serves as personalized ID for cardholder and also contains key information of cardholder Loyalty smart card application which serves “Full Loyalty” program stores a running balance, an accumulated balance, accumulated visits, last loyalty award and redemption dates, and the last award and redemption amounts on the card Transit smart card application which serves various transportation modes, such as mass transit, toll way, etc. The application is designed to serve multiple pricing scheme.

MULTIAPPLICATION (2/2) Security Ticketing Electronic Purse
Digital certificate-enabled smart card is used for authenticating identities, encrypting data, and validating transactions Ticketing The ticketing application defines a digital ticket and operations for manipulating the ticket utilizing a smart card. A digital ticket replaces and enhances a standard paper ticket. In addition to the standard functions of a paper ticket, like event admittance and seat identification, a digital ticket can be transferred, exchanged or upgraded over the Internet. Electronic Purse Stored-value function with an ability to reload value via multiple means such as ATMs, AVMs, telephones, etc.

Belgium: More than 8.6 million cards issued for banking, finance, and public phones Hong Kong: More than 9.3 million cards issued. The most famous one is Octopus for subway and retail United Kingdom: 83,000 cards have been issued for public transportation Japan: More than 5.5 million cards issued. Mexico: Used with more than 300,000 public telephones Singapore: More than 5.9 million cards issued for ERP and retail Australia: 1 million cards for schools and healthcare Brazil: More than 95,000 cards mainly for various payments

JAPAN JREast invested more than 4 Billion Baht to upgrade its AFC to support SUICA (Super Urban Intelligence Card) system -- cotactless smart card SUICA is currently supporting 8 million transactions/day, 5.5 million cards EDY (Euro-Dollar-Yen), an electronic purse project, has issued more than 500,000 cards with more than 1,300 outlets accepting this type of payment

KOREA Various players in smart card technology
Busan, 2nd largest city in Korea, has been adopting more than 2 million cards, both contactless and dual interface types, for transportation modes and retail VisaCash Korea has worked with SK Telecom to promote smart SIM for contactless payment

MyKad is the national ID project with multipurpose features including ID, driving license number, passport information, health information, and electronic purse Touch & Go card supports expressway and transit applications. HONG KONG Octopus Card became one of the most successful smart card projects in the world The system has more than 9.3 million cards issued over the last 6 years with more than 7.6 million transactions per day 80% of the total transactions comes from public transportation, 20% from over 150 retail partners Contactless type
