Bar Graph Statistics By: Emily Mycek Kallie Miholics Jonathan DiRienzi

2 Definition A diagram that displays numerical data as a visual. The numerical values of variables are represented by the height or length of the bars.

3 Examples

4 #1

5 Constructed Example If we were to do this survey on 74 people instead of 28, do you think the results would remain the same? Explain your reasoning.

6 Directions for a handmade graph
1. Determine the following Title Label for each axis Scale for each axis 2. Draw a set of axes that you will use to construct your graph. Determine which axis will be the frequency axis and group data Write in axes labels For the frequency axis, determine the scale variable 3. Use the data from the table to draw the bars on the graph.

7 Directions to make a graph in Excel
Open the Excel program. Enter the independent variable going from A1 and go to the right Put in the numerical data below the result titles. Highlight everything you want to be included in the graph. Go under Insert and click Bar Graph. Format the way you desire.

8 Advantages and Disadvantages
Oversimplification Inaccuracy if the numbers are not whole May not serve exact purpose Advantages Easy representation of the data Helps show the frequency of the data Widely known and used
