Exploring the Bible!’ Sunday evenings a major week by week exploration of the books of the Bible Tonight Nehemiah with Churches Together Every Sunday evening at ‘Bible Explorer’ we will explore the question ‘what does this book mean for us today?’

2 Nehemiah Nehemiah is the Jewish cup bearer to king of Persia in the 6th Century BC. Nehemiah hears that Jerusalem is still in ruins Nehemiah prays for guidance - with the King’s permission he travels to Jerusalem oversee its reconstruction.

3 Nehemiah During rebuilding, Nehemiah is plagued by enemies He perseveres in the task until the city is rebuilt, after which he quickly reeducates the people on Jewish law.

4 ‘What does Nehemiah say to us today?
Prayer Nehemiah’s first reaction to Jerusalem’s plight is to pray 1:1-10.! Throughout rebuilding Nehemiah he faced a number of difficult challenges, and he stops to pray earnestly to God before each. Seek God First - Act Second. (1:4)

5 . ‘What does Nehemiah say to us today? Vision Despite the desperate reality of the situation Nehemiah had vision 2:11-18. Nehemiah was also a wise practical leader 4: "Where there is no vision, the people perish “ -where there is the living word, life, hope - people flourish. Proverbs 29:18

6 . ‘What does Nehemiah say to us today Opposition Nehemiah's enemies attempt to distract him from his work 2:19, 4:1-3. "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down" 6:3 Let opposition strengthen resolve and faith, make you determined to finish the work (4:6) a prayer warrior (4:7-9) it’s not about you only, but about God’s kingdom (4:14) ?
