Year 7 - You decide: variety is the ‘spice’ of life!
Choose a task to complete for homework. You should make an effort to choose tasks of varying ‘heat’. Grade Guide: 1 = Outstanding 2= Good 3= Satisfactory 4= Unsatisfactory Research a genre that we haven’t studied in class. You should create a fact file (including key facts and elements) explaining what you have learnt about this genre. Write a poem from the perspective of the protagonist within the text that we have studied in class. Produce a map of the setting within the text that we have studied. There should also be a set of instructions that would help someone navigate their way around the location. Produce a piece of artwork which summarises the text you have been studying. You should also write a short piece that explains why you have produced this piece of art. Date and sign: Grade: Date and sign : Mind map key themes within the novel that we are studying. You should also include quotations to support your ideas. Research the writer of the text that we have studied. Produce a biography of their life. Create your own protagonist/antagonist. You should explain why you have given them the characteristics that you have. Write a newspaper article that explores a key event that we have studied in class. Empathy- imagine you live in the area where our novel is set. Write a diary entry explaining what is currently happening within your text. Create a blog/video that explains your views on the topic that we have studied. Create a comic strip of a key scene within the text that we are reading. Try to include onomatopoeic words for effect. Write a letter, from one character to another, explaining your thoughts and feelings at this stage in the novel. Create a starter about the topic that we been studying in class. Extra house points if you present it to the class. Write the opening paragraph for a story that opens with the line: “There was no going back now…” Create a poster drawing tourists towards the area that our novel is set. Choose a picture related to the topic that we are studying. Write as many sophisticated words around it that you could use in a description (with definitions). Earn a Ruskin Respect and/or house points Earn house points and possibly a Ruskin Respect. Earn a house point or two. Don’t get a detention!
