Gluteus maximus self-stretch with lumbar spine stabilization. (A) The patient on all fours rocks into an anterior pelvic tilt, causing lumbar extension. (B) While maintaining lumbar extension, the patient shifts the buttocks back, attempting to sit on the heels. When lordosis can no longer be maintained, the end-range of hip flexion is reached; this position is held for the stretch.
