5.6.3 Metallic Tubing. Seamless copper, aluminum alloy, or steel tubing Tubing shall not be used with gases corrosive to such the tubing material. Stainless Steel. 7 Relocate protective coating
Section 5.6.6 Section 7.2.2 7.2.2 Protective Coating. Where piping is in contact with a material or an atmosphere corrosive to the piping system, the piping and fittings shall be coated with a corrosion- resistant material. Any such coating used on piping or components shall not be considered as adding strength to the system. 5.6.6 Protective Coating. Where in contact with material or atmosphere exerting a corrosive action, metallic piping and fittings coated with a corrosion-resistant material shall be used. External or internal coatings or linings used on piping or components shall not be considered as adding strength. Relocate protective coating

Stainless Steel Tubing Joints. Stainless steel joints shall be welded, assembled with approved tubing fittings, brazed with a material having a melting point in excess of 1,000°F (538°C), or assembled with press-connect fittings listed to ANSI LC 4/CSA 6.32, Press-Connect Metallic Fittings for Use in Fuel Gas Distribution Systems. Brazing alloys and fluxes shall be recommended by the manufacturer for use on stainless steel alloys. Add SS Joining methods

9 Add Polyamide plastic pipe standard
Plastic Polyamide pipe, tubing and fittings, other than polyethylene, shall be identified and conform to the edition of ASTM D2513F2945, Standards Specification for ThermoplasticPolyamide 11 Gas Pressure Pipe Tubing and Fittings. Pipe to be used shall be marked “gas” and “ASTM D2513F2945”. Add Polyamide plastic pipe standard

10 Clarify when pressure regulator is required
5.8.1 Where Required. A line pressure regulator shall be installed where the gas supply pressure is higher than that at which appliances are designed to operate or vary beyond design pressure limits exceeds the maximum allowable inlet pressure of the appliance served Listing. Line pressure regulators shall be listed in accordance with ANSI Z21.80/CSA 6.22, Line Pressure Regulators, where the outlet pressure is set to 2 psi or less Clarify when pressure regulator is required

Arc Resistant Jacketed CSST. CSST listed with an arc resistant jacket or coating system in accordance with ANSI LC 1/CSA 6.26, Fuel Gas Piping Systems Using Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST), shall be electrically continuous and bonded to an effective ground fault current path. Where any CSST component of a piping system does not have an arc resistant jacket or coating system, the bonding requirements of shall apply. Arc resistant jacketed CSST shall be considered to be bonded when it is connected to appliances that are connected to the appliance grounding conductor of the circuit that supplies that appliance. 17 Revise existing appliance inspections
9.1.24* Existing Appliances. Existing appliance installations shall be inspected to verify compliance with the provisions of Section 9.3 and Chapter 12 where a component of the building envelope is modified as described by one or more of (1) through (6). Where the appliance installation does not comply with Section 9.3 and Chapter 12, the installation shall be altered as necessary to be in compliance with 9.3 and Chapter 12. (1) The building is modified under a weatherization program. (2) A building permit is issued for a building addition or exterior building modification. (3) Three or more window assemblies are replaced. (4) Three or more storm windows re installed over existing windows. (5) One or more exterior door and frame assemblies are replaced. Exhaust ducts shall be constructed of rigid metallic material. Transition ducts used to connect the dryer to the exhaust duct shall be listed and labeled in accordance with ANSI/UL 2158A, Clothes Dryer Transition Ducts, for that application or and installed in accordance with the clothes dryer manufacturer's installation instructions. 19 Delete Floor Mounted Unit Heater
Floor-Mounted-Type Unit Heaters. Floor-mounted-type unit heaters shall comply with the following requirements: (1) A listed unit heater shall be installed with clearances from combustible material at the back and one side only of not less than 6 in. (150 mm). Where the flue gases are vented horizontally, the 6 in. (150 mm) clearance shall be measured from the draft hood or vent instead of the rear wall of the unit heater. A unit heater listed for reduced clearances shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. (2) Floor-mounted-type unit heaters installed on combustible floors shall be listed for such installation. (3) Combustible floors under unlisted floor-mounted unit heaters shall be protected in an approved manner. (4) Clearances for servicing shall be in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations contained in the installation instructions. Delete Floor Mounted Unit Heater

10.28 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicular Fuel Systems. The installation of compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling (dispensing) systems shall conform with NFPA 52, Vehicular Fuel Systems Code. Residential CNG fueling appliances shall be listed in accordance with ANSI/CSA NGV 5.1, Residential Fueling Appliances, and installed in accordance to the appliance manufacturer’s installation instructions. Add CSA NGV Standard

22 Mechanical draft systems shall be listed in accordance with UL 378, Draft Equipment, and shall be installed in accordance with both the appliance and the mechanical draft system manufacturer’s installation instructions. Add UL Standard

Ventilating The use of ventilating hoods and exhaust systems to vent appliances shall be permitted to be used to vent appliances limited to industrial appliances and appliances installed in commercial applications and to vent industrial appliances, particularly where the process itself requires fume disposal. 24 Plastic Piping. Where plastic piping is used to vent an appliance, the appliance shall be listed for use with such venting materials and the appliance manufacturer’s installation instructions shall identify the specific plastic piping material. The plastic pipe venting materials shall be labeled in accordance with the product standards specified by the appliance manufacturer or shall be listed and labeled in accordance with ANSI/UL 1738, Venting Systems for Gas-Burning Appliances, Categories II, III, and IV Plastic Vent Joints. Plastic pipe and fittings used to vent appliances shall be installed in accordance with the appliance manufacturer's installation instructions. Plastic pipe venting materials listed and labeled in accordance with ANSI/UL 1738, Venting Systems for Gas-Burning Appliances, Categories II, III, and IV, shall be installed in accordance with the vent manufacturer’s installation instructions. Where primer is required, it shall be of a contrasting color. Add UL 1738 Standard

25 Special Gas Vent. Special gas vent shall be listed and labeled in accordance with ANSI/UL 1738, Venting Systems for Gas-Burning Appliances, Categories II, III, and IV, and installed in accordance with the special gas vent manufacturer’s installation instructions. Add UL 1738 Standard

26 Factory-built chimneys shall be listed in accordance with ANSI/UL 103, Chimneys, Factory-Built, Residential Type and Building Heating Appliances, ANSI/UL 959, Medium Heat Appliance Factory-Built Chimneys, or ANSI/UL 2561, Degree Fahrenheit Factory-Built Chimneys. Factory-built chimneys shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Factory-built chimneys used to vent appliances that operate at positive vent pressure shall be listed for such application. Add UL Standards

27 * Masonry chimneys shall be built and installed in accordance with NFPA 211, Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances, and lined with one of the following: (1) Aapproved clay flue lining, (2) Aa listed chimney lining system listed and labeled in accordance with ANSI/UL 1777, Chimney Liners, (3) or Oother approved material that will resist corrosion, erosion, softening, or cracking from vent gases at temperatures up to 1800°F (982°C). 28 Add installation shield requirements
Installation Shield. Where a factory-built chimney passes through insulated assemblies, an insulation shield constructed of steel having a minimum thickness of inch ( mm) (nominal 26 gage) shall be installed to provide clearance between the chimney and the insulation material. The clearance shall not be less than the clearance to combustibles specified by the chimney manufacturer’s installation instructions. Where chimneys pass through attic space, the shield shall terminate not less than 2 inches (51 mm) above the installation materials and shall be secured in place to prevent displacement. Insulation shields provided as part of a listed chimney system shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Add installation shield requirements

The vent terminal of a direct-vent appliance with an input of 10,000 Btu/hr (3 kW) or less shall be located at least 6 in.
