Error in the Curriculum!
8.3.6 says "Because light can only travel in one direction over optical fiber, two fibers are required to support full duplex operation" WRONG Light can travel both directions simultaneously through glass--we all know that. Two fibers are used merely as a convenience, to make the receivers and transmitters cheaper.
