3 How to conjugate a regular –er verb
Start with the infinitive. For the 1st group of French verbs, that’s the form ending in –er. For example: parler. In English, we would translate the infinitive as “to speak”. Take the –er off the verb to find the stem. So here, the stem is parl-. Put the following personal endings on the verb.

9 Regular –ir verbs Again, start with the infinitive. For the 2nd group of French verbs, that is the form ending in –ir. For example: finir. In English, we would translate the infinitive as “to finish”. Take the –ir off the verb to find the stem. So here, the stem is fin-. Put the following personal endings on the verb.

13 Regular –re Verbs One more time, start with the infinitive. For the 3rd group of French verbs, that is the form ending in –re. For example: vendre. In English, we would translate the infinitive as “to sell”. Take the –re off the verb to find the stem. So here, the stem is vend-. Put the following personal endings on the verb.
