STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT We have had children within the unit
Represent the school at District and Western Area level sport Integrate weekly into mainstream classes Students who now own a bike and have learnt to ride for the first time. Increased confidence in and around water and a basic understanding of water safety. Students are continuously taken out of their comfort zone while being nurtured and mentored with life skills.

AQUAFIT PROGRAM

AQUAFIT We applied for and received a grant from ClubsNSW for a total of $ This allowed us to work with the Dubbo RSL pool staff to provide the primary students an Aquafit program. The program promoted Fitness Water confidence Stretched their personal boundaries to try new things Perseverance Respect for community members and society’s expectations.

BIKE RESTORATION

BIKE RESTORATION During Term 3, K6T and K6D combined to complete a bike restoration project across Key learning areas. The children gained skills in Patience Persistence Group work Come to see the value of completing a project and the rewards of that.

GIRLS GROUP

GIRL Power Girl Power is a group designed to empower girls with self-esteem and confidence. We will be building social skills and resilience by participating in a variety of practical activities such as: Jewellery Making Hairstyling and Care Sewing Drama Cooking Self-care and Hygiene The “Girl Power” program is held Thursdays in the Community Room and is run in conjunction with the SistaSpeak program delivered by our Aboriginal Education Officers Deb Morrow and Dina Moore.

Boys Group Boys Group is designed to engage the students in Science activities while having discussions around wellbeing and exploring how to put into action the Core Values of our Positive Behaviour for Learning program.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2018 In 2018 we would like to
Construct an active play/sensory behind the demountable or brick building Introduce a modified STEM session to coincide with the mainstream classes Activities including robotics, creative arts, construction Continue with the girls group and open up opportunities for targeted mainstream girls to be included. Beautify MC area with 3 murals on classroom walls outside facing the Ronald St/COLA playground Continue with Aquafit program for semester 2. Implement primary recreation fishing program “Get Hooked” – sponsored by Department of Primary Industries. Complete a similar project to bike restoration. Construction project eg seating for class line up. Create opportunities for students to experience aspects of life that are out of their normal experience, helping them to widen their horizons and grow as individuals.
