About Title I Title I is the largest federal aid program for schools
It’s goal is to help ensure that all children- especially those who are considered “high-risk” get a quality education.

Key Components Needs Assessment Schoolwide Plan Yearly Review
A planning team looks at strengths and weaknesses related to student performance. Schoolwide Plan Based on the needs assessment a comprehensive plan is developed to help all students do their best in school. The plan will outline goals and strategies. Yearly Review Each year, the school must determine if the goals have been met.

Services Provided by Title I Funds
Improved core academic program Additional teachers and support staff Innovative teaching methods, such as team teaching and technology integration Programs to improve achievement in core academic areas, such as reading and math Vocational and technical education programs

Parent/Family Involvement
Ways to participate: Take part in creating and evaluating the Title I program. Attend school events Visit your child’s classroom Join parent organizations Attend parent teacher conferences Keep your child’s teacher informed of changes that may affect attendance, behavior or work. You have a right to: See progress reports on your child AND the school Request information about your child’s teacher’s qualifications Help decide if Title I is meeting your child’s needs and offer suggestions *Perquimans County Schools is in the research phases of implementing and funding a “Parent University” through the Title I program. This program will further assist families in helping their student(s) get a high-quality education.
