WHAT IS POP ART? Pop art is a genre of art that ‘popped’ in the middles of 1950’s in Britain, it was used for commercial purposes because of the eye catching colors that they use.

HISTORY OF POP ART In 1952 there are a couple of artist in London who called themselves as the independent group. They were the one who invented the word pop art. It then came to the United states in 1960’s, where they are struggling from the post war protest, and they see pop art as something positive because of their vibrant color.

CHARACTERISTIC OF POP ART
It has really vibrant colors It combines two different patterns (usually) Usually used in commercials.

ANDY WARHOL Andy Warhol was the most successful and highly paid commercial illustrator in New York even before he began to make art destined for galleries. His most famous work was the picture of Marilyn Monroe and the Campbell’s can soup.

ROY LICHTENSEIN Roy Lichtenstein was one of the first American Pop artists to achieve widespread renown, and he became a lightning rod for criticism of the movement. His famous artwork is Popeye and the drowning girl.

RICHARD HAMILTON Richard Hamilton was the founder of Pop Art. His famous work was different than the others, he was an anti capitalist. This one is called ‘The Feminine Mystique’
