Began with our earliest ancestors who lived a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. -Set fires to make hunting more efficient -Native Americans hunted many mammals to extinction including ground sloths, lions, cave bears, and ancient bison ancestors. Drastically changed with the Agricultural Revolution -Allowed permanent occupation of an area -Grew crops and raised livestock

Human Impact on the Earth
Human activities consume resources and produce waste. As populations grow and global consumption increases, it is essential that we measure nature’s capacity to meet these demands.
5
Ecological Footprint The Ecological Footprint has emerged as one of the world’s leading measures of human demand on nature. Simply put, Ecological Footprint Accounting addresses whether the planet is large enough to keep up with the demands of humanity
6
What are the Components of an Ecological Footprint?
CO2 Production/Emissions Food and Agriculture Clean Water Usage/Availability Ocean Resources Timber and Forest Products Land Use: Settlement, Industry/Business, Schools…
7
Ecological Footprint What are the major factors that determine a human’s ecological footprint? What are some major contributors of CO2?
