5. The Troop Format Framework to practice leadership skills
Leadership is applicable to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture
Week two - outdoor experience!
You’ll begin Wood Badge as Cub Scouts, with your Cub Master leading the pack and your Den Chief’s assisting.
After our Blue & Gold today at lunch, you will bridge over to Boy Scouts where we’ll incorporate the Troop format with the Scoutmaster mentoring your Senior Patrol Leader, while the SPL takes over the management of the Troop.
Troop Guides will aid with instruction and the development of your Wood Badge tickets. Late in the second weekend you’ll become part of the Venturing program, but the bulk of the course, participants and staff will consider themselves to be members of Gilwell Troop 1.
The content, although delivered in the Troop format, is applicable to all scouters with the final weekend being an Outdoor experience.

One of the great traditions of Wood Badge is the ticket. In Baden-Powell’s day, those in the military were expected to pay their own way back to England at the end of their service. To economize, soldiers nearing completion of their duties would seek assignments at posts increasingly close to home – a process known as “working your ticket”
