1 What is Relationship Abuse?
Learning outcome; To be able to identify when a relationship is abusive To know what to do and where to go for help if you or a friend is in an abusive relationship.

2 What is relationship abuse?
Discuss the question above and feedback Abuse is not normal and never ok. If you are in a relationship with someone, you should feel loved, safe, respected and free to be yourself. There are different forms of abuse can you name them? Physical- what does this mean? Sexual- what does this mean? Mental/ emotional- what does this mean?

3 Spot the Signs Which type of abuse are the following?
a partner may try to pressure you into having sex by saying "if you loved me you would“ They might try to control you by checking your phone They may call you names or threaten to spread rumours about you They might get angry when you want to spend time with your friends They may try to force you to do things by hitting you

4 Abuse in relationships isn't always physical
Can you spot the signs of abuse in these relationships? Discuss what you see in these two videos Hollyoaks Abuse in relationships isn't always physical In groups of 3 or 4 place the relationship cards into 2 piles- non abusive and abusive. Discuss your results and why

5 Where to go for Help Twist and Pulse
There are several people you might talk to, such as: an adult mentor or a favourite teacher at school your mum, dad or another trusted adult  an adviser on a helpline such as ChildLine ( ) a GP or nurse a friend And remember, try again if you don't get the response you think you need. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE- ALWAYS SEEK HELP
