This stable isn’t ready for Christmas… Who is missing?
Arrange an empty stable on the focus table with nativity characters hidden out of sight. Invite children to suggest people they would expect to find in the stable and why they were important. That child can then add the person/people to the scene.

It happened on Christmas Eve in 1223 in a cave used as a stable.
Did you know the first ever nativity scene was created by St.Francis of Assisi in Italy? It happened on Christmas Eve in 1223 in a cave used as a stable. He used real animals including an ox and a donkey! After a visit to Bethlehem and the humble place where Jesus was born, he realised that Jesus had come into the world in poverty. MAKE LOVE YOUR AIM

Jesus shared his love with everyone, but especially the poor!
St. Francis created the nativity to remind people that God chose for Jesus to be born poor, amid the animals. Jesus was sent to help those who had nothing. The people who saw the nativity realised that to follow Jesus and become closer to him, they also had to help the poor. Jesus shared his love with everyone, but especially the poor! How do you think Emil and Fabian felt?
Earlier this year Emil and Fabian’s dad fell ill and he had to give up work. When it was time to return to school after the summer holidays, their mum was struggling to buy the things they needed, like shoes. How do you think Emil and Fabian felt? Today you are going to receive your very own crib to fill with coins for children who live in poverty. Who might not have the fun filled Chritams you are gong to have, who are not going to receive lots of presents and treats.

Life at home wasn’t very happy for a little girl, Kylie and she and her mum had to leave their house and go and live in a tiny flat. They took very few things with them. Kylie had to sleep on the floor and the cooker was broken so it was difficult for her mum to cook.
12
Imagine Kylie at home… do you think she has friends home for tea?
At school, Kylie wasn’t able to concentrate on her work as she was always tired and hungry. Imagine Kylie at home… do you think she has friends home for tea? Today you are going to receive your very own crib to fill with coins for children who live in poverty. Who might not have the fun filled Chritams you are gong to have, who are not going to receive lots of presents and treats.
13
Emil and Fabian’s mum came to the Catholic Children’s Society for help.
The CCSP helped her to buy new uniforms and shoes.

The CCSP also provided a new bed and a cooker for Kylie and her mum
The CCSP also provided a new bed and a cooker for Kylie and her mum. Now she enjoys having friends round and is happy at school again. Today you are going to receive your very own crib to fill with coins for children who live in poverty. Who might not have the fun filled Chritams you are gong to have, who are not going to receive lots of presents and treats.
15
They will not be able to afford gifts and treats.
Many of the families that the CCSP help are like the families of Emil, Fabian and Kylie; they do not have enough money for basic items like food or clothes and at Christmas it is even harder. They will not be able to afford gifts and treats.
16
How might you be able to help?
By sharing your love and thinking about others, you can support children who are sad and in need this Christmas. How might you be able to help?
17
Remember to fill your cribs with
Coins for Children to help families in need and bring them back to school after the Christmas holidays as YOUR gift to them on the feast of the Epiphany.
