Northview Career and college readiness framework designed to integrate throughout the high school curriculum with a focus on employability behaviors traits and career pathways exploration . Juniors & Seniors voluntary pilot – A software platform designed to give students tangible evidence of Northview 9 Behavioral Traits and STEAM Skills knowledge. This is a collaboration between Northview Public Schools and the S2B Foundation. Students can earn up to 5 school approved absences for: College visits Job shadows Job interviews and other college and career focused activities Students will also earn a certificate of completion that can be listed on a job application, resume, or virtual portfolio. Parents must still call in to excuse absence and students must bring proof of activities. We will check stars at end of semesters to confirm school approved absence can be granted. School initiated outings do not count against students’ stars collected.

18 Northview High School COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Log into your Family Connection. Click on “Colleges”, then click on “Colleges I’m Applying to” and add desired colleges to your list. 2. If applying to Common Application schools follow these steps: Create an account on Common App website. View video (on Family Connection home page) for how to match Family Connection to Common App. Complete the FERPA release in Family Connection.  In addition to teacher recommenders, you must also request your counselor as a recommender through Family Connection, not Common App.

19 Northview High School COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
3. Complete application and transcript request online through your Family Connection page once you have applied to the college. Counselor and teacher recommendations require 5-7 working days to process. 4. If SAT/ACT scores need to be sent directly to prospective colleges, go to or collegeboard.com to request submission. WE WILL EXPLAIN APPLICATION PROCESS AGAIN DURING SENIOR AUDITS IN SEPTEMBER! Counseling Department support for college applications begins on August 28, 2018

20 NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center
Set appointment with counselor to review transcript and requirements. Register on-line at for the NCAA or for NAIA. Send transcript to NCAA and/or NAIA through Family Connections. Send ACT/SAT scores directly from the testing center.

21 KEEP Your Family Connection Page Up-To-Date
Report all admissions updates from your prospective colleges and edit your Family Connection when there is a change. Remove colleges you are no longer interested in.

24 Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)
TIP Eligibility- Received Medicaid coverage for 24 months within a 36-consecutive month period between the ages of 9 and high school graduation. TIP covers cost of tuition credit hours at most community colleges and a select group of 4 year colleges. For more information go to TIP information sheet

Rigorous course selection Aggressively recover any missing credits Maintain good study habits Stay motivated and engaged in school Be proactive (watch deadlines, meet with reps, employers, etc.) Communicate with parents, counselors, colleges, employers Visit guidance webpage frequently for important student information Keep in mind…making sound DECISIONS will lead to satisfying and successful EXPERIENCES.
