What is WISHRM? State Association, affiliated with SHRM – also called “State Council” Members of affiliated chapters are members of WISHRM Volunteers in specific roles plus the Chapter Presidents make up the State Council leadership Chapter Presidents attend State Council meetings or send substitute

Role of WISHRM Adopt programs which will promote the progress and welfare of the profession and the Society as a whole. Facilitate information sharing between chapters, among the council leaders, and the SHRM Board of Directors. Provide a structure for its members to consult together Assess/meet the needs of members and chapters Coordinate legislative initiatives Provide leadership development opportunities Communicate with SHRM at-large members

Student State Conference March 7-8, 2014 UW-Madison State Legislative Conferences March 20, 2014 Eau Claire April 24, 2014 Milwaukee North Central Student SHRM Conference April 25-26, 2014 Milwaukee State Leadership Conference August 7-8, 2014 Lake Lawn Resort, Delavan State Conference October 15-17, 2014 Monona Terrace, Madison Student State Conference – student chapter sponsored with chapter and council volunteers, Ryan Derber will send notice looking for professional volunteers – will be a state council meeting at this event Legislative Conference – purpose is to educate on legislative issues and activities and provide the opportunity to meet and talk with legislators Leadership Conference – purpose to bring together state leaders (council) and chapter leaders for training in their respective positions. Attendees will be able to learn from each other on their successes and challenges. Additional leadership topics may be offered. Chapters who attend 80% of council meetings will be offered a state leadership conference registration (same criteria as national leadership) need to let leadership director know you are using this at time of registration State Conference – to provide HR professionals the opportunity for development and education at a reasonable cost. Locations and hosts vary. Profits currently split 50% council and 50% chapter/committee members/chapter host.

Provide a connection to SHRM people and resources Deliver feedback, ideas, concerns, requests from local chapter members and chapter leaders to SHRM

Connecting you to SHRM We are in SHRM’s North Central Region
Each region has dedicated staff who are the liaisons between SHRM and the members in the region Assist potential chapters in becoming affiliated Assist individual members with questions about membership Assist chapters with any issues facing the leadership team Attend state council and regional council meetings as a resource Participate in state conferences as an exhibitor Act as a speaker Assist in the recruitment and retention of members
