PHYSICAL FEATURES Jaguars can come in their natural color which is tan with brown or they can come in black. Male and females are 7 feet in length. Male jaguars weigh heavier than females which can be 126 to Females can weigh up to 100 to 200.

HABITAT & NICHE The jaguar is the biggest cat in the americas. They live in central america,in Brazil,and in Argentina. Jaguars live near lots of trees because they can rest on them and ambush their prey too. Jaguars do not avoid water areas like ponds lakes and rivers because it attracts prey.

SOCIABILITY They hunt and live alone except if it's mating season.
Male jaguars are very protective over their partner especially during mating season. Jaguars can have 2-4 cubs and the cubs stay with their mother until they are at least 2.

WHERE IS IT ON THE FOOD CHAIN?
The jaguar is on top of the food in the americas. The jaguar can survive on their own. Jaguars mostly eat crocodiles,deer,and any other small prey.

ADAPTATION One of their adaptations are their claws because they climb trees to get prey. They are good swimmers so they hunt prey in water too. Their tan color can camouflage with the dry grass to sneak on prey

ENDANGER FOR ……... Jaguars are endangered because people kill them for their fur. Farmers would also kill them because the jaguars kill the farmer’s cattle

REMAINING POPULATION 1500 still remain in the wild.
80 to 120 live in Sonora,Mexico and the borders of Arizona.

CONSERVATION MEASURES
Jaguars don’t really get enough hunting grounds because of people taking over lands. Jaguars are nearly threatened

HABITAT REQUIREMENTS Jaguars need to live near water because they love to swim Jaguars need to have grass areas with lots of trees because they like to climb trees to find prey They like areas with caves so they can relax in and keep their cubs in.

FUN FACTS The jaguar is the third largest cat in the world.
Theie name comes from the word “yaguar” which means “he who kills with one leap” They can see six times better than humans in any dark condition due to a layer of tissue in the back of the eye which reflects light.
